Fertile Ground is unique in that it offers dancers, like me, who are in the early stages of their career an opportunity to perform high quality work created by nationally and internationally recognised choreographers as part of a professional company. It has been an amazing experience to be part of the Fertile Ground team and I am really looking forward to having the chance to present work on home turf as well as the opportunity to perform at venues across the country.

DANCERS

We are committed to talent development and retention of dancers in the North. Every year we recruit a new company of young professional dancers from or based in the North East of England. Through paid engagement our ambition is to nurture, challenge and inspire a new generation of dance artists whilst creating and presenting inspirational and accessible dance.

360 Programme

Alongside our professional company we offer emerging dancers opportunities to join our 360 programme. This initiative is aimed at artists aged 18-25 who have had dance training, but due to personal, professional and/or socioeconomic barriers have struggled to get employment. The goal is to enhance their employment prospects through participation in dance technique classes, workshops, rehearsals and master classes in practical subjects: managing self-employment and audition preparation.

If you're interested in joining our 360 programme, please send a CV and a cover letter highlighting your connection to the North East of England and interest in the programme to audition@fertileground.org.uk
